Examining the WMSCOG

As you’ve seen from other posts, some people try their best to turn people away from the World Mission Society Church of God by slandering the Church and smear its reputation. They’ve gone out of their way to make blogs and videos and claim to be “experts” at examining the WMSCOG. As disheartening as their actions are, they’re not surprising.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NLT) History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.

The Bible says that history repeats itself. People slander the Church of God today just as it happened 2,000 years ago when Christ was on the earth. Two thousand years ago, the Pharisees and religious leaders led people away from believing in Jesus because they themselves did not believe.

John 12:37 (NLT) But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him. . . . Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

The Pharisees greatly influenced religion in Israel at the time. Although people believed in Jesus, they were afraid of the Pharisees. These people were more concerned about the opinions of religious leaders than receiving God’s blessing. Today’s modern-day Pharisees are not only religious leaders. They’re people who simply are against the teachings of the Church of God and want to turn others away from the Church. So although many believe the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother once they see it in the Bible, they walk away from the Church of God once they listen to these “modern-day Pharisees.”

Pharisees’ Evaluation of Jesus Christ

Although Christ performed many amazing and astonishing miracles, people chose to not believe in Him because of what the Pharisees thought of Christ.

Matthew 9:3 (NCV) Some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This man speaks as if he were God. That is blasphemy!”

Not only did religious leaders accuse Jesus of blaspheming, but they even slandered Him of being demon-possessed.

Matthew 9:34 (NCV) But the Pharisees said, “The prince of demons is the one that gives him power to force demons out.”

Regardless of what good deeds Jesus did and how He fulfilled prophecies, the Pharisees always had something negative to say. And because they rejected Christ, the rest of the people also rejected Him. During the time of Jesus, Israel’s population was of 1.1 million people, but only 12 people followed Christ.

The Pharisees’ Tactics to Turn People From Jesus

The Pharisees used two main tactics to keep everyone from following Christ.

Tactic #1: They looked for false evidence to accuse Jesus Christ.

But because Jesus was blameless, they could not find any real evidence.

Matthew 26:57-59 (NLT) Then the people who had arrested Jesus led him to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of religious law and the elders had gathered. . . . Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find witnesses who would lie about Jesus, so they could put him to death.

Tactic #2: They took Jesus’ words out of context.

Matthew 26:60-61 (NLT) But even though they found many who agreed to give false witness, they could not use anyone’s testimony. Finally, two men came forward who declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the Temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

When Jesus said that He would destroy the temple (John 2:19-21), He was referring to his own body. However, those who heard Him took His words out of context and thought He literally meant the Temple.

Because the religious leaders lied about Jesus and took His words out of context, many people believed them and consequently also went against Christ. This is why we cannot judge Christ based on the opinions of others, but the Bible.

Sadly, the same thing happens today. There is a group of people who claims to “examine” the Church of God. They make blogs, videos and even call on the press to tell their “stories,” which are all fabricated.

Check out this video to see more about the tactics people use today to slander the Church of God’s reputation. And see how they follow the exact pattern of the Pharisees 2,000 years ago.

If you want to learn about Christ, never ask these “modern-day Pharisees.” Instead, visit your local World Mission Society Church of God and learn everything concerning Jesus through the Bible.
